Iwona Mirosz graduated from the faculty of law at the Warsaw University. She completed postgraduate course of English Law and EU Law organized by the University of Cambridge and a summer course on International and American Law organized by the Southwestern Legal Foundation in Dallas, Texas, USA. She was admitted to the Bar at the District Chamber of Legal Advisers in Warsaw.
Following her judicial apprenticeship and legal counsel exam, she worked as a legal counsel for commercial companies and for the banks: Bank Handlowy in Warsaw and Svenska Handelsbanken. She was an associate at the law firm Kalwas & Partners and partner in the Polish Law Firm “Piontek, Rymar, Wiśniewski and Partners” and in the International Law Firm “Bird&Bird.”
Iwona Mirosz specializes primarily in banking, finance and commercial law, consumer protection and compliance. Her professional experience includes the establishment of banks in Poland and Sweden, as well as the establishment of a branch of a credit institution in Poland, the transfering of banking activity from a bank to the branch of credit institution and liquidation of a bank, preparation of the Report on Polish Banking Law and Consumer Protection in Poland for the European Commission. She has organized and managed the compliance function in a bank. She also led a number of transactions both on the domestic and international market.
She regularly contributes articles on current issues in banking, finance, consumer protection and compliance. She is a regular speaker at conferences and workshops on various legal and procedural issues related to banking and compliance at commercial conferences and professional workshops.
In 2007 she was distinguished by the Polish Bank Association for her contribution to the development of Polish banking law and practice.
In 2009 she was recommended by the Financial Gazette among “20 recommended Polish women lawyers”.
In 2011 she was recommended by the Financial Gazette among “3 recommended Polish banking lawyers”.
In 2013 she was distinguished by the Bar for her contribution to the development of the Polish Chamber of Legal Advisors.
She is also dedicated to social activity for the law environment. She was Vice-President of the Polish Company Lawyers Association (2009-2012), Vice-President of the European Company Lawyers Association (2007-2010), member of the board of the Commercial Law Centre Foundation (1994-2011).
Her interests include sport, such as swimming, volleyball, cross country skiing, and tourism – she is a member of the Servas International Association.
